  • Engines of Narrative

    The Engines of Narrative is a recurring online prose symposium and workshop led by Elizabeth Gaffney, meeting on Wednesday evenings for 2.5-hours.

    The Engine of Narrative creates a supportive yet challenging community and an ongoing conversation for the purpose of helping each writer develop, finish or revise a manuscript.

    In the 10-week sessions, writers can submit up to 45 pages of prose for workshop and critique.

    In the 5-week sessions, you will be invited to respond to prompts, discuss your larger project and share new pages aloud. Craft Conversations will be tailored to the interests of the writers.

    10-week Sessions: $1100

  • Manuscript Critique Group

    During the months of May, September and January, a small group of former students from either the Novel Workshop or Engines of Narrative may convene to read each others’ prose manuscripts along with Elizabeth Gaffney. By special arrangement. $1600

  • One-on-One Manuscript Editing

    Work on your manuscript one-on-one with Elizabeth Gaffney. You’ll get a thorough reading, marignal notes, a letter with detailed notes, suggestions and an editorial plan, and time to discuss the project with Elizabeth on Zoom. $75/1000 words. By arrangement.

  • Hourly Coaching

    Work one-on-one with Elizabeth Gaffney as you develop an idea, generate new pages or edit a project, which can be prose of any scale, from flash to a book-length work. Scheduled by mutual arrangement.

    $300/hour broken into two sessions, one devoted to brainstorming, inspiration, prompts or help with planning, one for reviewing up to 5000 words of prose.

  • Novel Workshop (APS)

    The Novel Workshop is a class taught twice a year by Elizabeth Gaffney through A Public Space’s Academy. Each writer workshops their entire novel draft and reads nine other novels over 12 weeks. Class fees are 90% refundable up to fourteen days prior to beginning of the session and 50% up to 7 days prior, after which no refunds can be given.
